MakeOver Monday – Weeks 38, 39, and 40

Week 38 was by far the toughest of datasets to date. Overall I think the majority of the community struggled a bit. I had a bunch of ideas of what I wanted to do, but time got away from me, so I simplified and came up with individual race analysis worksheets, and embedded them in a story. Comparing Andy’s pace to his heart rate, I was able to see the improvement between the races in regard to his pace. This was a good challenge, and maybe one day I’ll revisit it and complete my original idea…

Week 39 looked at the dietary restrictions around the world, whether faith related, health related or otherwise restrictive. I took the chance to do some polygon mapping using the Interworks Drawing Tool, and use a small map to drive the highlighting on my dot plot. Overall I really liked the way it turned out.

Week 40 brought us data related to Brexit, and it’s effect (if any) on the G7 economies. I’ve been really in to dot plots lately, so I continued that trend, this time creating individual title elements to act as the legend for the dots, which change colors as you change the parameter for the country you are comparing to Great Britain.
