Back in the dark days of the pandemic Real World Fake Data was launched with generated dataset from a service that really could only give me randomized data values with some manipulation, and it was ok… but just ok. Despite that, the datafam took RWFD and ran with it filling Tableau Public with loads and loads of real world examples of dashboards.
Fast forward to 2025 and it’s a whole new world, and when it comes to data generation it’s a whole new planet. For work I have created a customized GPT to generate data for our demos with customers and I thought to myself
“Hey Mark, the GPT is pretty good… maybe you should try creating some new RWFD datasets?” To which I thought, yeah, that’s a great idea… in fact, let’s recreate the 1st Season of RWFD’s datasets with realistic examples that actual have some stories to tell!
So I did.

The first dataset will launch August 1st!

I am working on a dashboard with this month’s call center data and found a lot of situations where the data looks heavy on the “fake” and not really conducive of a real world scenario. Is there an opportunity for you guys to refresh the dataset and account for any of the errors I have found (below)? –
1) Unique customer IDs for every record
2) Unique agent IDs and names for every record
3) CSAT responses for every record / 100% CSAT response rate
4) Fake locations
5) Distributions among every dimension are very evenly distributed.
6) Same with MoM changes across KPIs.
