My Favorite Vizzes from 2018

These are my five favorite vizzes I created during 2018.

January 3rd, 2018 – Poultry and Red Meat Consumption

This was the first Makeover Monday of the year, and this ended up being included in the Makeover Monday book. How could I not include this one? I love the simplicity of it and the color palette.

February 1st, 2018 – What the Most Profitable Companies Make per Second

This viz made this list because of the iteration and feedback loop that occurred the morning I published it. I had never done an arc chart, so this was a good learning exercise and I loved the final version of this viz.

June 26th, 2018 – Beekeepers and Bee Colony Loss

I loved the small multiple maps of this viz and the color palette worked well I thought.

August 22, 2018  – ACLED – Armed Conflict in Africa

This one was the first thing I did that went “viral” in the community. I learned this trick from Matt Chambers and finally had a chance to use it. The rounding of the latitude and longitude provide a cool pixelated map and because there were enough point I could remove the outline of the map. It was really cool to see people picking up this trick and learning it from something I had put forward.

July 9th, 2019 – My Weight-loss Battle

This one made the list because it was and is so personal to me. The transformation was amazing to see in phots and really fun to watch through the tracking of the data.
